The first meeting goes faster and further when you arrive with a few documents. None of them are hard to find, and none need to be perfect.
Bring your last two years of tax returns, recent pay stubs for both of you if you have them, a rough list of what you own and what you owe, and any agreements you have already signed. If there are children, a calendar of the current routine helps more than you would think.
Bring questions too. Write them down beforehand. The ones people forget in the room are usually the ones that kept them up the night before.
